Fairytale Weekend: Asheville Travel Journal

This could not have been more of a winter wonderland fairytale like weekend. My boyfriend, Alec, rented this adorable vrbo for my birthday weekend in Asheville, North Carolina. It was perfectly situated in a quaint neighborhood just one mile from the Biltmore and downtown Asheville. We arrived late Friday night after a long drive through a snow storm (only got stuck once!!) …but seriously it was so scary. Would strongly advise not to drive through a blizzard.
On Saturday morning, we woke up to a blanket of thick white snow draped across the entire town. Alec and I jumped back in time as five-year olds, throwing on our jackets and running outside. We ended up walking into the village filled with cute shops and cafes, stopping at Well-Bred Bakery & Cafe for a delicious breakfast before exploring the area.

The main event of the day was the Biltmore. If you have not had the chance to tour this estate, you MUST do so! I have always wanted to go during the Christmas season after seeing pictures of all the decorations. It is truly speechless status. Dozens of Christmas trees and poinsettias are awaiting you on every turn. So that, coupled with the fresh snowfall outside had me feeling like a real life ice princess all day.

After touring the Biltmore, make sure to check out the village on the property! Our ticket for the house tour included a free wine tasting at Antler Hill Village Winery (so def worth the $80!). Beside the tasting room, you can sit down and order a glass of wine with some tapas. We did just that! The day was truly everything I could have wished for and more.
On Sunday we slept in & headed into the actual city center of Asheville. Alec and I have visited before but it was never more than just a pit stop for lunch. It was nice to finally have the whole day. I would definitely recommend Ponsana for (a filling chocolate overload) brunch. I just could not resist the espresso chocolate chip French toast. No regraats.

After stuffing ourselves, we took a walk around the city, hopping in and out of shops all day. Kepps Emporium is worth checking out if you’re in town. A multitude of artists sell their crafts and local pieces here. I stocked up on candles of course because I’m an actual candle hoarder. But that’s beside the fact. We also stumbled across the Battery Park Book Exchange & Champagne Bar which was amazing! Upon walking in, a maze of bookshelves greeted us with a saxophone and pianist playing near the bar. We sat and listened to the music for a while as we warmed up before heading back out into the cold for Wicked Weed Brewery. This brewery was recommended to us by a few of our friends so we could not leave without checking it out! There was a nice fire pit outside that kept us warm in the snow where we were able to tip-off our unforgettable weekend in Asheville with a glass of wine (and obvi another cheese platter). Feeling so much love from all the birthday wishes and thankful to have spent it in a beautiful city! Will most definitely be back one day.
